The preparations for our Impact Weeks have begun. After two great years in Kenya we are expanding the project to our first destination outside of Africa. Colombia – the South American country that is in a great state of change. The country is known for its incredibly hospitable people and amazing entrepreneurial mindsets. However there are major issues like social inequity and criminal activities that provide us with challenging tasks that we are excited to tackle at our Impact Week in Bogotá.
Our first All-Hands meeting two weeks ago has officially marked the beginning of this years Impact Week season. With the team coming together in the SAP AppHaus in Heidelberg one could feel the excitement growing amongst the group members planning our Design Thinking sessions and discussing issues students can possibly work on during the actual Impact Week workshops. With a team consisting of more nationalities than ever before we did not only bridge language barriers but also got to know group members joining via video call from Colombia, the US, the UK and several german cities.
After a short introduction of every team member we quickly felt the great dynamic amongst the group as we discovered that we all share the same passion to empower people through new methods of business development and innovation. One thing is for sure: everybody comes with great excitement for the project and the believe in the potential of Design Thinking! ¡Guay!
We also dug deeper into the set up of our Train the Trainer session – the event that is held just before the Impact Week that aims to teach Design Thinking to local coaches. This shall enable them to support their students independently, not only during the Impact Week but sustainably within the everyday university life. Additionally we began to map out the Impact Week itself talking about issues we aim to find solutions for and appointing teams to issues the track topics Education, Public Policy, Fair Trade, Tourism and Regional Development. We want to be prepared to ensure having the knowledge to work out solutions together with students and young adults at Tadeo University. One of the top points in our agenda however has been the Impact Week Awards ceremony, because we do not only want to facilitate students but also celebrate their work at the end of the week in order to encourage them to realize their ideas and have an impact in their country.
We are incredibly excited to finally come together in Bogotá on the 19th of September to join as a team and look forward to the challenges that we will encounter at our Workshops.
We will keep you updated on everything during the next weeks right here as well as on our social media channels. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as Xing and LinkedIn. We appreciate it a lot if you share our great experiences with others! ¡Hasta pronto!
