Welcome to the Impact Week in Bogotá, Colombia, 2018!
Colombia’s capital city sits on a plateau in the Andes mountain range around 2,640 metres (8,660 feet) above sea level. It is a vibrant city, often referred to as the “city of contrasts” – where modern high-rise buildings are situated directly next to century-old churches, and where a calm, flora-lined street is adjacent to a main street bustling with traffic. In addition to being the country’s capital city with over 8 million inhabitants, Bogotá is also Colombia’s economic centre; most of the country’s companies are headquartered here and it is the hub of Colombia’s main stock market.
Over the past years, Colombia has experienced sustainable economic growth. This growth, coupled with a significant positive transformation of the education system, is continually improving the economic and social well-being of the country. For the Impact Week, people from around the world, with a range of demographic and psychographic characteristics, are gathering in Bogotá to develop sustainable business models using Design Thinking. Our aim is to create a sustainable impact by fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
During this year’s impact weeks, local students from the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, along with participants from around the world, will be developing sustainable business ideas for the following five categories:
Stay tuned – over the next weeks, we will be sharing some of the most creative business ideas, interviews with some of the locals and more with you!
