The Junior Design Thinking Coach training is designed for employees and managers who can benefit from innovation, new ways of working, customer-centricity, and a hands-on mindset in their everyday work.
You will not only be trained in the human-centered innovation method Design Thinking but also gain first experience in coaching. After completing the 7-day program you will be ready to facilitate your own Design Thinking workshops within your company and channel the creativity of your coworkers!
Thereby, the program combines professional skills development, learning on eye-level with the local Junior Coach aspirants, and harnessing the power of Design Thinking for the benefit of the local communities.

The Training Content

- Understand the holistic approach of Design Thinking and become familiar with the six phases of Design Thinking (learn more about “How We Work”)
- Develop a strategic innovation toolbox, as well as understand when and how to employ Design Thinking and innovative probelm-solving tools and activities
- Evaluate group dynamics and improve team performance using tools and methods designed to promote cooperation and development iteration
- Guide teams to unlock their creativity and enable out-of-the box thinking
- Conduct workshops in an intercultural environment and navigate diverse teams
The Program's Structure
Phase 1: Train-the-Coach (3 days)
Learn and practice Design Thinking extensively so you know all about how and when to use it!
It is all about making you familiar with the approach and giving you the tools to become a confident Design Thinking coach under the guided mentorship of diverse Design Thinking Experts.
Phase 2: Impact Week Challenge (4 days)
Put in practice what you’ve learned, gain instant experience as a coach and support local development.
With your newly acquired skills, you will coach local students and young entrepreneurs with another Junior Coach to develop new business ideas or solving pressing local problems using Design Thinking. If you need help, an experienced Senior Coach is always on your side.
The Design Thinking Trainers ("Senior Coaches")
The Junior Coaches will receive the training from a team of Design Thinking practitioners with multiple years of teaching and facilitation expertise who will guide discussions, foster peer connection, and provide feedback on their assignments.
Our Senior Coaches come from various backgrounds and apply Design Thinking in different cultural and business contexts. Our network of Coaches includes well renowned freelance Design Thinking Coaches while others are Design Thinkers and Facilitators within their respective company. For each Impact Week we put together a well-rounded, diverse team with different strengths and levels of experience.

The Selection Process
Step 1: Get your leadership approval for your participation and make sure that you will be available for the entirety of the training period.
Step 2: Apply for the Impact Week you are interested in through our website “Upcoming Impact Weeks”
Step 3: You will be invited to a brief interview
Step 4: Once you received a positive feedback from us, then the preparation begins. Join our kick-off call to prepare and meet your fellow Junior Coaches.
The Requirements

- Motivation to use your skills for good
- Interest in learning Design Thinking (no prior knowledge in Design Thinking is necessary)
- Openness to share know-how and experience within your own organization and beyond
- Open-mindedness and curiosity
- Respect for and interest in other cultures
- Your English level should be business fluent
